Our new girl will be here soon!

My husband and I spent a lot of time researching the best labradors to select to start out our breeding program here in New York.  Every time we came across a good looking female silver labrador - all lines lead back to Bill Crabtree's Kennel in Muncie, Indiana.

Just today, we completed the deposit process on a sweet female labrador retriever from Bill Crabtree himself!  I can't tell you how excited we are.  Bill took the time to educate myself and my husband, and also looked over Charlie's pedigree to ensure a good match.  After careful consideration, we have chosen a black lab puppy (born 3/29/2011) to be our first female.  Bill tells us that she came from a litter of chocolate, black, silver and charcoal litter mates.  This means that when she is of age, she and Charlie will produce all of those colors in their litters.

We could have gone with an older female so that we could get started right away producing puppies.  That is a good idea, however, we are willing to put in the time and effort that it takes to raise our girl right from the start.  This way, we can be sure that her traits are the ones we want to pass along, and we will know her temperament and unique personality better.

Looking forward to this adventure!
